4/23: GREENFIELD FARMS TO LIVE AGAIN
John T. Edge explains the plans for Faulkner’s old mule farm in Lafayette County, MS.
Greenfield Farm will act as a welcoming “front porch” for novelists, poets, songwriters, playwrights, essayists, nonfiction writers – essentially anyone who wishes to make words. The residency will attract writers from Mississippi and writers who make Mississippi their subject.
“We depend heavily on writers to tell our story in Mississippi,” Edge said. “I’d argue that writing is one of our state’s leading cultural and economic outputs. With the creation of this residency, we are making an infrastructure investment to support that work.”

1/1/2023 Lafayette County Digital Museum Opens for Business!
The long-awaited, county-wide museum in Oxford, MS has opened for business. Using a unique digital format for exhibits, the Museum includes collections of pictures, family records, historic maps of the area along with stories and videos of places and people that are no longer around.
Historic Preservation Commission OKs New District Boundaries
In an effort to align local historical districts with the National Historical Districts, the city of Oxford, in conjunction with the Mississippi Department of Archives and History, recently underwent a re-survey of Oxford’s local historic districts.

The Oxford Lafayette Heritage Foundation held their annual meeting Monday night at the Burns-Belfry Museum and Multi-Cultural Center where they unveiled a new interactive map system displaying the history of Lafayette County and its people.
